The Jim Phillips Award was created in 2021 to recognize the member who has shown the greatest level of service. This is the club's highest honor awarded.

Each board member may nominate a member in good standing (regular or associate) who has served with distinction during the current Lions Year.
All board members have to unanimously agree for the honoree to be selected. This is a high bar precisely because this is our club's highest honor. Nominees:
Cannot serve on the board of directors during the awarding year,
Should have served on or chaired a committee,
Should have attended or participated in something every month.
Have led or considerably impacted a service activity or project.
Proudly promote the organization, including by wearing the Lions Logo.

The Boyd Baker Award is an annual honor presented by the Greater Houston Lions Club at the December meeting. Named in tribute to the legacy of Rev. Boyd Baker's service and leadership, the award recognizes a new member who joined the club during the current calendar year and has already made a meaningful and positive impact through their service, initiative, or leadership. This award was created in June 2025 to mark the anniversary of his passing.

The Boyd Baker Award was created to recognize the new member who most exemplifies the spirit of fresh commitment and embodies the mission and energy of our club from day one.

Have joined our club during the calendar year
Have demonstrated significant involvement or contribution
Reflect the values of service, integrity, and community
Selection Process:
The recipient is chosen through a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors in November.
The award will be presented each year during the December general meeting.
